'Tangled' total grosses approach $20 million

Headed into the weekend B.O., Warner Bros.’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ continued to outpace its competish, with Thanksgiving Day estimates totaling $11.5 million for a two-day total of $27 million. Pic’s domestic cume to date stands at a stellar $170 million.

Disney’s 3D toon “Tangled” gained enough headway on Wednesday over the weekend’s three other wide releases (“Burlesque,” “Faster” and “Love and Other Drugs”) to maintain a solid hold at No. 2, estimating $8.1 million on Thursday and grossing so far almost $20 million.

The toon dropped an expected 30% from Wednesday to Thursday as family auds typically are most preoccupied with holiday activities, while according to B.O. pundits, male-driven pics like 20th Century Fox’s holdover “Unstoppable,” with $2.5 million, and CBS Films’ “Faster,” grossing an estimated $1.9 million, benefited from that demo’s likelihood to get out of the house.

Both “Unstoppable” and “Faster” saw sizable upticks on Thursday, up 32% and 21%, respectively. “Unstoppable” has cumed $46.5 milllion entering its third frame; “Faster” reached $3.5 million domestically.

Meanwhile, Sony/Screen Gems’ mostly femme-targeted entry “Burlesque” estimated an additional $2.5 million over the holiday, with a total $5.8 million going into the weekend.

Fox’s “Love and Other Drugs” dropped 24%, with Thanksgiving figures totaling $1.9 million and the pic’s two-day grosses at $4.2 million.
