Daniel Pipski, former senior veep at Groundswell, has joined Andrew Lauren Prods., partnering with Lauren as the company shifts its focus to more commercial projects.

Lauren and Pipski already have optioned Chuck Hogan’s screenplay adaptation of his 2010 novel, “Devils in Exile,” a thriller about an Iraq war vet who joins a gang of veterans in a crusade to rip off drug dealers.

Lauren and Pipski will produce the project, while 3 Arts Entertainment’s Richard Abate is set to exec produce. The search for a director will begin shortly.

As an actioner with roles that could attract stars, “Devils” reps a step toward the larger, more commercial offerings ALP aims to produce for film and TV.

New addition Pipski, who will be based in L.A., was senior veep of LivePlanet before Groundswell and also has worked at Working Title Films.
