Mandalay CEO to address Theater, Film, TV students

Peter Guber, chairman-CEO of Mandalay Entertainment Group, has been tapped as the commencement speaker for the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.

Ceremony, which takes place June 11, honors approximately 200 students.

Teri Schwartz, dean of the school, noted that Guber’s a longtime supporter of the school as a professor and has demonstrated a “profound commitment to fostering excellence in education.”

Guber’s career as an executive includes stints as president of Columbia Pictures and chairman- CEO of Casablanca Records and Filmworks, Polygram Entertainment and Sony Entertainment. He formed Mandalay in 1995.

Guber produced “Midnight Express,” “Gorillas in the Mist,” “Missing,” “The Color Purple” and the Oscar best picture winner “Rain Man.”
