At 42, Peruvian-born Fernando Soriano is still pretty young to be receiving an achievement award.
He credits his rapid rise in CinePlanet’s ranks to his people-oriented approach and organizational skills. Soriano’s past work at the sales divisions of results-driven multinationals Unilever and Pepsi served him well, he admits, although it had nothing to do with exhibition.
“When I joined CinePlanet in 2005, I sought to make our employees feel more like owners of the company, giving them incentives in both sales and operations,” he says. That year, the company owned some 70 screens. It now runs 127 screens in Peru and 31 in Chile. CinePlanet is now the leading exhibitor in Peru with a 48% share of the market.
“He’s been a great leader with the ability to bring out the best in such a young team in a customer-oriented organization,” says CinePlanet head Rafael Dasso.
