Duo launch development of animated feature
Pelagius Entertainment and Protein Entertainment have launched development of animated feature “Hot Dogs” as the first film in their partnership.
The banners have secured $50 million in private equity funding from India for development and production of 3D stereoscopic animated features, live-action features and TV programs. The partnership plans to produce between three and five features in the next three years.
“Hot Dogs,” written by Max Botkin (“Robosapien: Rebooted”) is set to begin production in the first quarter.
Los Angeles-based Pelagius produced “Talk to Me” and the recent PBS documentary, “Adjust Your Color: The Truth of Petey Greene.” Joe Fries, Bob DeMars, Natalie Khoury are the producing partners.
Protein, based in Bangalor, India, was founded by Nandish Domlur and Sanjee Gupta.
Domlur founded Paprikaas, a 3D animation and video games services company with clients including Dreamworks Animation, Nickelodeon and Electronic Arts. Paprikaas, which has 900 artists, was recently acquired by Technicolor.
