Paramount moves ‘Dinner’ date

Comedy to open on July 30

The release of Jay Roach’s “Dinner for Schmucks” has been pushed back by one week, from July 23 to July 30.

Pic is from Paramount, DreamWorks Studios and Spyglass Entertainment. Insiders said the move provides more distance between “Schmucks” and Warner Bros.’ “Inception” (July 16) and Sony’s “Salt” (July 23).

“Schmucks,” toplining Paul Rudd and Steve Carell, is the only comedy among the three, though all three pics will target auds both over and under 25. Universal had been set to open the next installment in the “Meet the Fockers” comedy franchise on July 30, but that pic was pushed back to Christmas.
