Palms Springs fest to honor Jennifer Lawrence

'Winter's Bone' thesp also nommed for Gotham award

Jennifer Lawrence will receive the Rising Star Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival kudos on Jan. 8.

Lawrence is being honored for her perf in Debra Granik’s “Winter’s Bone,” in which she plays a 17-year-old trying to find her delinquent father in Missouri’s Ozarks.

“Winter’s Bone” was awarded the Sundance Film Festival’s grand jury prize. Lawrence won the actress award at the Seattle Film Festival and received a Gotham Award nom for breakthrough actor.

Lawrence will next be seen in Jodie Foster’s “The Beaver” and Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class.”

The gala, hosted by Mary Hart, will be at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Fest runs Jan. 6-17.
