Javier Bardem is slated to receive the International Star Award at the 22nd annual Palm Springs Film Festival Jan. 8.
The honor is awarded to actors who are able to successfully traverse from foreign-language film to mainstream recognition.
Bardem’s 2010 projects included “Eat Pray Love” and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Biutiful.”
The Spanish thesp received won the Oscar and Golden Globe for supporting actor in “No Country for Old Men.” The awards gala will take place Jan. 8 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The fest runs Jan. 6 through Jan. 17.
