The 2010 Palm Springs ShortFest has announced its program including films directed by James Franco, Kirsten Dunst and Glenn Close.The fest, held June 22-28 at the Camelot Theater in Palm Springs, Calif., will showcase 314 shorts selected from more than 3,000 submissions. The fest will award a total of $90,000 to helmers judged across 17 categories by a jury of biz professionals. First place winners in four categories will become eligible for consideration by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for short film Oscar noms. Dunst’s “Bastard,” Close’s “Pax” and Franco’s “The Clerk’s Tale,” “The Feast of Stephen” and “Herbert White” will all bow at the fest. Franco will also participate in a conversation with Variety editorial director Peter Bart on June 26. Other shorts will include the acting talents of Meryl Streep, Forrest Whitaker, Helena Bonham-Carter and Vincent D’Onofrio.
