Omnilab Media announced plans for a September U.S. release of Australian B.O. hit “Bran Nue Dae.” Freestyle Releasing will manage domestic distribution of the musical romcom with Bankside Films handling international sales.
Pic, directed by Rachel Perkins and produced by Robyn Kershaw and Graeme Isaac, stars Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush and centers around the romantic adventures of a young Aboriginal couple.
Film had its U.S. premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
“Working with the experienced Freestyle Releasing team, we are hoping it could, in fact, achieve that rare honor of becoming a small, independent, breakout box-office hit,” said Christopher Mapp, Managing Director of Omnilab Media and one of the film’s exec producers.
Steven Raphael’s Required Viewing and Cinemarket’s Peter D. Graves will oversee the film’s U.S. marketing.
