NYU names filmmaking award recipient

Luke Matheny receives Peyton honor

Luke Matheny of New York University was named recipient of the Angelus Student Film Fest’s Patrick Peyton Excellence in Filmmaking Award, which includes a $10,000 cash prize, for his thesis film “God of Love.”

The fest was set to present more than $50,000 in cash and industry prizes at its 2010 screening and awards ceremony Saturday at the Directors Guild of America. Fest juries selected the finalists and winners from 486 submissions representing 28 countries.

Other honors included the $5,000 Triumph of the Spirit Award, the $2,500 Audience Impact Award, the $2,500 Production Excellence Award, the $3,000 Outstanding Documentary Award and the $2,000 Outstanding Animation Award.
