Nolan to receive first-ever VES Visionary Award

'Dark Knight' honored by Visual Effects Society in 2009

The Visual Effects Society will present helmer Christopher Nolan with its first Visionary Award.

Org said the kudo was created to honor those who consistently apply visual f/x to foster imagination in a unique manner.

Last year “The Dark Knight” picked up VES awards for models and miniatures, created environment and special effects in a motion picture.

“Batman Begins” was nominated in 2006 for created environment.

“Christopher Nolan has been at the forefront in using vfx to help tell complex and astonishing stories that change the way we think about the world around us,” said Jeffrey A. Okun, chair of the visual effects awards committee.

The ninth annual VES awards will be presented Jan. 28 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
