Comicbook series “New-Gen Universe,” from A.P.N.G. Enterprises, will get a live-action feature treatment with Mark Hamill attached to star.
Still in early stages of development, the feature project has tapped “New-Gen” co-creator J.D. Matonti to direct and exec produce, with fellow co-creators Chris Matonti and Julia Coppola producing. Roger Burlage, former Live CEO and co-chairman, also will serve as exec producer.
Hamill previously recorded an online behind-the-scenes feature for New-Gen.
“New-Gen,” about twin brothers who discover their identity while fighting a futuristic war, also will become a 3D-motion comic available as a cross-platform gaming product, according to A.P.N.G.
The company partnered with China-based Green Leaf Film Studios to develop the game.
“We look forward to continuing the ‘New-Gen’ saga as we move from comic book prequel to live-action film,” Matonti said. “It is very exciting to breathe life into these … characters within the New-Gen universe.”
Marvel distributed the comic book series this year.
