NAB confab adds 3D panels

Broadcasters event to feature 'Hubble 3D,' ESPN's 'Goal'

With interest in 3D continuing to snowball in theaters and the home, National Association of Broadcasters has added three 3D-focused panels to next month’s NAB confab in Las Vegas.

ESPN will present “Scoring a Field Goal in S3D Sports.” Pace Technologies CEO Vince Pace — who is providing the 3D cameras and production support for 3D coverage of the Masters golf tourney — will lead discussions with VPs Anthony Bailey and Bob Toms as well as producer Phil Orlins.

A second panel has filmmakers from Disney’s 3D hit “Alice in Wonderland,” including Disney executive VP of visual effects and production Art Repola and the film’s visual effects supervisor, Ken Ralston.

Third 3D panel is on Imax pic “Hubble 3D,” led by Imax’s executive VP David Keighley, exec vice president of technology Brian Bonnick, and executive VP of theater development Larry O’Reilly. “Hubble 3D” director and producer Toni Myers will also be present.

NAB takes place April 12-15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
