Theater advertising company Screenvision will digitally distribute Beyonce’s concert film “I Am … World Tour” in 14 U.S. theaters for an exclusive run Thursday.
“I Am,” which was produced, directed and edited by Beyonce, will air Thanksgiving Day on ABC, followed by its DVD release on Nov. 26.
Screenvision plans to team up for the theatrical screening with existing exhib partners Carmike Cinemas, Mann Theaters and Landmark Theaters. Screening will be free on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pic follows the multi-hyphenate on her summer 2009 tour that spanned 32 countries and saw attendance north of 1.1 million. Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce” was one of her bestselling solo albums, shifting more than 6 million copies since its release in 2008.
“This is a great opportunity for fans to see Beyonce in concert,” said Darryl Schaffer, Screenvision’s exec veep of exhib relations.
Screenvision is running 30-second spots in some theaters as well as other pre-show programming and in-theater marketing. Cities to get “I Am” include L.A., San Diego, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta.
