Carey Mulligan has joined Michael Fassbender in the cast of Steve McQueen’s “Shame.”
Rising thesp James Badge Dale (“Rubicon”) has also been added to the cast of the drama, penned by McQueen and “Brick Lane” scribe Abi Morgan.
Fassbender will play a thirtysomething man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life. Mulligan will play his sister, while Badge Dale plays his boss.
Pic is produced by “The King’s Speech” producer Iain Canning and developed through his and Emile Sherman’s See-Saw Films with Film4, which will co-finance.
HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales and marketing for the pic, which has already pre-sold to a number of territories including Blighty (Momentum), France (MK2), Germany (Prokino), Benelux (Cineart), Switzerland (Frenetic), Portugal (Lusomundo), Greece (Odeon), former Yugoslavian countries (MCF), Israel (Shani) and Iceland (Myndform).
See-Saw sister company Transmission Films will distribute the film in Australia and New Zealand.
Movie is skedded to begin lensing in January in New York.
Mulligan is repped by Julian Belfrage Associates and CAA. Badge Dale is repped by CAA.
