Oscar nominee to work with Shaquille O'Neal

Oscar nominee Mo’Nique has signed on to host the Showtime special “Shaquille O’Neal Presents: All-Star Comedy Jam.”

Special will be shot in Dallas at AEG Live’s Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie on Feb. 12, and will also be distributed via pay per view, DVD and online. Showtime’s run of the event will premiere sometime this summer.

Announcement came a day after Mo’Nique received a best supporting actress Academy Award nomination for her role in the feature “Precious.” Thesp has already won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for the role.

“All-Star Comedy Jam” will feature stand-ups George Willborn, Mike Epps, Paul Mooney, Michael Blackson and Corey Holcomb.

“We’re looking to make comedy history because of the chemistry between (Mo’Nique) and Shaw and all the other talented comics in the lineup,” said Codeblack Ent. CEO Jeff Clanagan.

Codeblack is producing the special, along with Shaq Ent. and AEG Live. The trio are behind the “All-Star Comedy Jam” franchise, having previously produced editions hosted by Cedric “the Entertainer” and D.L. Hughley.

Codeblack’s credits also include the documentary “Why We Laugh,” which was recently acquired by Showtime. Film debuted at Sundance in 2009.

The “All-Star Comedy Jam” tapes the night before the NBA All-Star Game.
