Fox, News Corp vet takes over studio
Miramax has appointed Mike Lang as chief executive officer.
Lang, a Fox Entertainment and News Corp vet, will be based at the new Miramax headquarters in Santa Monica and will oversee the film library. Recent reports indicated that Miramax had tapped Lang for the new leadership position but did not make it official until this morning.
Announcement comes on the heels of Miramax’s acquisition by a consortium of investors including construction magnate Ron Tutor, Tom Barrack of Colony Capital and Qatar Holdings.
“I have known and worked closely with Mike for almost 20 years and have always respected his talents,” said Miramax chairman and Colony Capital principal Richard Nanula in a statement.
Lang most recently served as a consultant to Filmyard in its acquisition of Miramax. Prior to that, Lang played key roles in the formation of the Myspace Music joint venture and the creation of Hulu. He was also involved in Fox’s moble, digital and video game initiatives after joining the company in 2004.
