Shingle to produce genre, thrillers
Filmax production exec Alberto Marini has launched Rebelion Terrestre to tap into Europe’s deep well of genre talent.
He will be replaced at the Spanish production-distribution-sales house by Adria Mones.
Barcelona-based Rebelion will produce one to two English- or Spanish-language pics a year, Marini said.
“Genre and thrillers are the types of movies I like most, in which I’m most experienced, and can command a large value on the international market,” he said.
He aims to announce his first production slate at Cannes next spring.
Italian-born Marini joined Filmax’s development division in 1999. He will maintain a relationship with Filmax, continuing to exec produce Paco Plaza’s “[REC]” franchise prequel, “[REC] Genesis,” now in pre-production, and Jaume Balaguero’s porter-from-hell thriller, “Sleep Tight.”
Pic is based on Marini’s screenplay. He said he would look to third-party companies to produce any future screenplays he writes.
