Mandate nabs McBride’s ‘Bullies’

'Yes Man' scribes Mogel, Paul to pen script

Mandate Pictures has acquired “Bullies,” an original idea from Danny McBride that will be written by “Yes Man” scribes Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul.

McBride, David Gordon Green, Jody Hill and Matt Reilly will produce through their Rough House banner, which has a first-look deal at Mandate.

Comedy revolves around two brothers who have bullied people their whole lives and finally get what is coming to them.

Mandate’s Nathan Kahane will exec produce, and Lawrence Grey will oversee for the company.

Mogel and Paul have the comedy “Himelfarb” in development at Warner Bros. They also recently wrote the animated spec pilot “Allen Gregory” for Fox TV, which they co-created with Jonah Hill. That pilot was picked up by the Fox Network, with the show being produced through 20th Century Fox, with Chernin Entertainment producing as well.
