Magnet makes ‘Vanishing’ appear in theaters

Magnolia division takes rights to Anderson horror film

Magnet Releasing has picked up U.S. rights to helmer Brad Anderson’s horror pic “Vanishing on 7th Street,” which bowed at the Toronto Film Festival.

Hayden Christensen, John Leguizamo, Thandie Newton and Jacob Latimore star in the film, about a power outage in Detroit during which most of the city’s population disappears mysteriously.

Norton Herrick, Tove Christensen and Mandalay Vision’s Celine Rattray produced the pic, which was penned by Anthony Jaswinski.

Distribution deal was negotiated by Tom Quinn of Magnet, the genre-centric arm of Magnolia Pictures, and Cinetic. Pic will hit U.S. screens in February.
