Lundin joins Carmike Cinemas

Film buyer will serve as VP of Film

Veteran film buyer John Lundin will join Carmike Cinemas as VP of Film, effective Monday.

He’ll report to Carmike chief operating officer Fred Van Noy.

Lundin, widely respected in Hollywood, left Cinemark nearly a year ago.

He had worked at Cinemark for 14 years, most recently serving as head film buyer. Lundin joined Sony’s distribution arm as a district manager in July 2009.

For Carmike and all exhibitors, film selection and determining the best markets for a given motion picture is a critical element of success, while film rental is an important piece of our cost structure.

We are confident that John is well suited to represent Carmike as its lead film buyer, overseeing these key areas for us,” Carmike prexy-CEO David Passman said.

Carmike, based in Columbus, Ga., is the country’s fourth largest exhib, operating 245 theaters with 2,281 screens in 25 states.
