Artists to screen works that inspired them
The Los Angeles Film Festival, which takes place June 17-27, will feature three artists in residence who will introduce and discuss films that have inspired their work.L.A. Weekly’s Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold has selected Katsuyuki Motohiro’s “Udon,” musician Quincy Jones will discuss Steven Spielberg’s “The Color Purple,” and actor and writer Paul Reubens will introduce Frank Capra’s “You Can’t Take It With You.” Event also features conversations with Ben Affleck, Roger Corman, John Lithgow and Sylvester Stallone. The fest is also hosting the Seize the Power marketing and distribution symposium, produced by filmmaker Jon Reiss, with speakers including Peter Broderick, Ted Hope and Lance Weiler.
