Rinsch in talks to direct sci-fier
The long-in-development remake of “Logan’s Run” appears to be gaining momentum with commericals director Carl Rinsch in talks to direct the sci-fi actioner for Warner Bros. and producers Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman.Project, focused on a man trying to escape a mandatory death sentence on his 30th birthday, has been in development at Warner’s for more than a decade. Bryan Singer, Skip Woods, Robert Schwenke, James McTeigue have been associated to “Run” at various points as possible directors. No stars have been cast as of yet. The 1976 original pic, released by MGM and based on a 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, starred Michael York as a man who tries to outrun cops who kill everyone who reaches 30 to alleviate overpopulation. Michael Anderson directed with Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett co-starring. Universal attached Rinsch last year to make his feature directing debut on “47 Ronin,” a samurai swordsmen tale that will star Keanu Reeves. Rinsch has been known for shooting commercials for Ridley and Tony Scott’s RSA, including spots for Mercedes, Sprite, BMW and Heineken. Rinsch is repped by CAA.
