Legendary Pictures nabs ‘Pacific Rim’

Sci-pic from 'Titans' scribe heads into development

Legendary Pictures has launched development on sci-fi project “Pacific Rim” with “Clash of the Titans” scribe Travis Beacham writing the script.

Legendary acquired the rights to Beacham’s project as part of its co-financing and co-production deal with Warner Bros. Story will center on the Earth inhabitants uniting to defeat a powerful extraterrestrial opponent.

Legendary and Warners have teamed on the “Clash of the Titans” remake, Chistopher Nolan’s upcoming “Inception,” Sam Raimi’s “World of Warcraft,” a relaunch of “Godzilla” and Nolan’s Batman projects.

Beacham sold his first spec script, “The Killing on Carnival Row,” to New Line. He’s repped by WME and Anonymous Content.
