Kelly McCormick to Sierra Pictures VP of production

She'll help identify future projects for company

Sierra Pictures has tapped manager-producer Kelly McCormick VP of production and development.

McCormick will aid Sierra principals Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg in identifying, developing and overseeing feature film projects such as its recently wrapped untitled 3D shark thriller, slated for domestic release by Relativity Media next year.

Sierra is a film finance, production and foreign sales company launched by Meyer and Schaberg in June 2009. Shark pic is the first feature produced by Sierra to secure domestic distribution.

“Kelly’s hire continues a natural evolution at Sierra of not only sourcing and representing films to the international marketplace but also building a production slate that harnesses the strengths of our company,” Meyer said.

McCormick had been at Circle of Confusion since 2008 and produced “Saint Joan of Vegas,” starring Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman, in 2008, and “Vanishing on 7th Street,” directed by Brad Anderson and starring Hayden Christiansen. Latter premiered at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival and will be released theatrically in February.Prior to Circle of Confusion, she was a creative exec at Scott Rudin Prods. and worked on TV documentary series for Lifetime, National Geographic, PBS and A&E.
