Junge set to adapt ‘Au Pairs’

R.J. Cutler directing drama for Flower Films

Warner Bros. has tapped veteran TV writer Alexa Junge to adapt teen drama “Au Pairs,” with R.J. Cutler onboard to direct.

Au Pairs,” set up with Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films and Alloy Entertainment, has been in development since 2006 when Warners acquired rights to Melissa de la Cruz’s “Au Pairs” series. The first, published in 2004, as “The Au Pairs,” follows three teenage girls learning how the other half lives by talking summer jobs with a wealthy family in the Hamptons.

Liz Garcia wrote an earlier draft; Cutler was attached last month.

Junge was the showrunner and exec producer on the initial season of Showtime’s “United States of Tara.” She’s also worked on “Big Love,” “Sex and the City” and “Friends.”

“Au Pairs” producers are Barrymore and Flower Film partner Nancy Juvonen, along with Alloy prexy Leslie Morgenstein. Alloy’s Bob Levy will exec produce.

Junge’s repped by CAA and Mosaic.
