Iranian network to serve ‘Come Dine With Me’

Reality show part of Manato 1's lineup

Iran is rightly renowned for its cuisine, but quite what the country will make of an Iranian version of the hit Brit irreverent reality skein “Come Dine With Me” is anyone’s guess.

Iran is one of three international territories to pact with ITV Studios for local versions of “Come Dine With Me,” in which amateur cooks host dinner parties in the hope of a cash prize. Iranian broadcaster Marjan Television Network, due to bow Manoto 1 at the end of October, has licensed 30 episodes of “Come Dine With Me” for its debut schedule. The episodes are to be produced in the U.K. by Manoto and feature a cast of Iranian diners.

Deals have also been closed with broadcasters in Ireland and Cyprus. Ireland’s commercial web TV3 has ordered 30 local episodes of “Come Dine With Me,” which will be produced by ITV Studios in Ireland to air as part of the broadcaster’s fall sked. A U.S. version of “Come Dine,” which lately has become a channel-defining show for Blighty’s Channel 4, is being made by ITV Studios for BBC America.
