L.A.-based production, sales and distribution shingle Inferno Entertainment has launched a specialty pic sales label, Ember Films.
Inferno co-chairmen Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel said in a statement, “We wanted to differentiate our specialist product from our other titles by developing a sales arm that can focus on quality and marketable projects at a more moderate budget range.”
Ember will be led by Inferno’s prexy of international sales, Kimberly Fox, and VP of international sales, Jana Toepfer.
The label’s first acquisitions include Oliver Stone’s documentary “South of the Border” and thriller “Entitled,” to be directed by Aaron Woodley, which will start pre-sales in Cannes.
Further acquisitions were made at the Tribeca Film Festival, including “Monogamy,” winner of Tribeca’s NY narrative prize, directed by Dana Adam Shapiro, “Climate of Change,” narrated by Tilda Swinton and directed by Brian Hill, and “Meskada,” a crime thriller, starring Nick Stahl and Kellan Lutz.
