Indaba, Weinsteins duet on marketing

Partnerships bows with contest to score 'Nowhere Boy' trailer

Online collective Indaba and the Weinstein Co. have entered into a strategic partnership to collaborate on music-based promotions for Weinstein film marketing.

The pact, the first between Indaba Music and a movie company, will be launched with the John Lennon biopic “Nowhere Boy” (being released Stateside Oct. 8), for which Indaba’s 400,000 users and the music community could score the trailer.

Beginning Thursday, IndabaMusic.com will exclusively premiere the “Nowhere Boy” theatrical trailer and invite musicians to create their own score using Indaba’s digital audio workstation on their website.

Site users will determine the top 25 submissions received between Thursday and June 1. Indaba and the Weinstein Co. will then choose five finalists to have their creations included on “Nowhere Boy’s” DVD release. The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and their score will be used on the film’s official U.S. trailer.
