DreamWorks Studios is joining the 2011 Imax Corp. lineup, with both “I Am Number Four” and “Real Steel” now skedded to open day-and-date in Imax theaters.
Both films are produced by DreamWorks, and will be released theatrically by Disney under the Mouse House’s Touchstone banner. “Number Four” opens Feb. 18, while “Real Steel” bows Oct. 7.
“Having ‘I Am Number Four’ and ‘Real Steel’ exhibited in Imax theaters gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the futuristic work of the filmmakers and the people involved in creating these visual tales,” said DreamWorks prexy-chief operating officer Jeff Small.
Deal was announced by Disney, DreamWorks and Imax.
“The inclusion of two live-action DreamWorks titles in our 2011 slate enables us to expand the range of content available to Imax theaters and extend our brand deeper into our growing 18- to 24-year-old audience segment,” said Imax CEO Richard L. Gelfond.
“Number Four,” based on the sci-fi young adult tome of the same name, is directed by D.J. Carusoand stars Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant and Dianna Agron.
Helmed by Shawn Levy, “Real Steel” toplines Hugh Jackman.
