IFC, SXSW bring pics to on-demand

Trio set for 'Direct From SXSW'

For the second year, IFC Films and Austin’s South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival are partnering to bring the fest’s movies to cable viewers nationwide. Three films will follow in the footsteps of Joe Swanberg’s “Alexander the Last,” which was available last year through the on-demand feature.

This year’s films in the Direct From SXSW partnership are Bryan Poyser’s black comedy “Lovers of Hate,” Shane Meadows’ improvised comedy “Le Donk & Scor-zay-zee” and Emmett Malloy’s music docu “The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights.”

Pics will be available at the start of the fest, which runs March 12-20. The films will be available to 40 million homes on cable systems including Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, Time Warner and Bright House.
