IFC picks up Joe Swanberg’s latest

'Uncle Kent' set for Sundance Spotlight

IFC Films has picked up world rights to helmer Joe Swanberg’s “Uncle Kent,” just named as one of the pics to be showcased in the Spotlight section of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

Film — co-written by Swanberg and Kent Osborne — centers on an L.A. cartoonist who tries over the course of a weekend to sleep with a houseguest visiting from New York. Swanberg, Osborne, Jennifer Prediger and Josephine Decker star.

IFC has worked with Swanberg on previous films including “Alexander the Last,” “Hannah Takes the Stairs” and “Nights and Weekends.”

Distribution pact was negotiated by IFC’s Lizzie Nastro with Swanberg. A release date has not yet been nailed down.

Sundance runs Jan. 20-30.
