IFC likes ‘Tiny Furniture’

Acquires North American, multiple foreign rights to SXSW standout

IFC Films has snagged North American rights plus foreign rights in several territories to “Tiny Furniture,” the 2010 SXSW fave from writer-helmer Lena Dunham.

IFC acquired worldwide rights to the pic except for the U.K., South Africa, Germany, France, Benelux, New Zealand and Australia. Distributor plans to release the movie through IFC in Theaters, the platform that offers indie pics on-demand simultaneous with a theatrical release.

Pic, produced by Kyle Martin and Alicia Van Couvering, scored the narrative feature prize at SXSW as well as a breakout kudo for emerging narrative femme helmer. Distribution deal was negotiated by Lizzie Nastro for IFC and Josh Braun of Submarine.

“Tiny Furniture” centers on a recent college grad who returns home while trying to figure out what to do with her life.
