IFC buys second ‘Human Centipede’

Companys nabs North American rights to horror pic

IFC Films has picked up North American rights to the next leg of the “Human Centipede” movies, “The Human Centipede Part 2 (Full Sequence),” for a 2011 release via its genre label, IFC Midnight.

Tom Six, who directed the first pic, returns to helm the second. Plot of the sequel has not been revealed, although IFC promises a new villain and a significantly upped gross-out quotient.

First film, released by IFC in the spring, centers on a mad scientist who joins the gastrointestinal systems of three people. Movie will soon get a VOD re-release in conjunction with this year’s Fantastic Fest ahead of its DVD and Blu-Ray release Oct. 5.

Deal for the sequel was negotiated by IFC’s Arianna Bocco and Jeff Deutchman with Ilona Six of Six Entertainment. Both theatrical and VOD platforms will figure in to the pic’s release.

“Centipede Part 2” recently completed production in London.
