IFC believes ‘Myth’

Takes North American, some intl. rights to indie

IFC Films has picked up North American and some international rights to “The Myth of the American Sleepover,” David Robert Mitchell’s teen tale that has played SXSW and Cannes.

IFC, which acquired rights to the pic in regions including Eastern and Central Europe and the Middle East, aims to release the film next year.

Storyline follows four teens on the last night of summer. Cast is made up largely of newcomers.

Pact for the North American rights was negotiated by IFC’s Jeff Deutchman with attorney George Rush, while Deutchman worked with Visit Films’ Ryan Kampe on international deals.

Produced by Adele Romanski, “Myth,” already seen at Deauville and Munich, is on tap for the Chicago Filmival Fest and AFI Fest later this year. IFC release will include theatrical, VOD and home-video.
