Hugh Jackman and Alicia Silverstone have signed on to the cast of “Butter,” the Weinstein Co. comedy set to begin production this month.
Penned by Jason Micallef and helmed by Jim Field Smith, pic is produced by Jennifer Garner — who also stars as an ambitious Midwestern woman trying to win a local butter-carving contest — and Mike De Luca.
Jackman portrays an old flame of Garner’s character, while Silverstone will play the adoptive mother of a teen girl who becomes a major contender in the butter-carving competish. The two thesps join a cast also confirmed to include Yara Shahidi as the adopted teen and Ashley Greene as the step-daughter of Garner’s character.
Silverstone recently wrapped a spring stint in Broadway play “Time Stands Still.” Jackman also played the Main Stem this season, in the fall outing “A Steady Rain.”
No release date for “Butter” has yet been locked down.
