Hellman, McDonald honored at Whistler

Helmers get Canadian tributes

Filmmakers Monte Hellman and Bruce McDonald will be feted at the Whistler Film Festival for their lifetime achievements on Dec. 3.

Canadian radio-TV personality George Stroumboulopoulos will moderate a chat between Hellman and McDonald along with helmer Atom Egoyan.

Hellman was also recently honored at the 2010 Venice Film Festival with a Special Lion for his body of work. His latest pic, “Road to Nowhere,” will screen at Whistler.

McDonald’s “Hard Core Logo II,” “Trigger” and “Music from the Big House” will screen at the festival, which runs Dec. 1-5.
