Independent film “When Harry Tries To Marry,” will have its world premiere at the Austin Film Festival in October.

Rahul Rai stars as the title character. First-time helmer Nayan Padrai produced and co-wrote with Ralph Stein.

The film follows a young Indian American named Harish, or Harry, about to graduate college in New York. He comes to the conclusion that to avoid the inevitable heartbreak he will suffer like his divorced parents, he will have an arranged marriage. But things get complicated when Harry begins to second guess his decision.

“We are thrilled to be making our world premiere at the Austin Film Festival, where Ralph and I met and where our script was given so much encouragement and was named a quarter-finalist in the screenplay competition,” Padrai said in a statement.

“When Harry Tries To Marry” will bow at the Rollins Theater in Austin, Texas Oct. 22 at 9 p.m.
