Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards packs a punch
Spike TV threw a few punches at the Saturday taping of its fourth annual Guys Choice Awards. The show opened with Arnold Schwarzenegger presenting Spike’s Guycon Award to Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone.
Titans of machismo Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta also stopped by, commemorating the 20th anniversary of their “Goodfellas” collaboration, and dropping as many profanities as they could wedge into a two-minute spiel.
Other award recipients included Charlize Theron, winner of the Decade of Hotness Award, and Jessica Biel, who edged out Zoe Saldana for the Holy Grail of Hot Award and thanked the people at Spike for “setting the feminist movement back at least half a century.”
Adding a bit of class and then promptly foregoing it, Ben Kingsley appeared onstage with some of the night’s best lines taken directly from Tracy Morgan’s “I Am the New Black” and Ozzy Osbourne’s “I Am Ozzy.”
Backstage, quintessential guy-guys George Clooney and Robert Downey Jr. played a couple hands of rock-paper-scissors.
