‘Grass’ grows on Arthouse

Kiefer documentary to get theatrical release next year

Arthouse Films has picked up U.S. rights to “Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow,” Sophie Fiennes’ docu feature about visual artist Anselm Kiefer.

Arthouse aims to release the pic theatrically early next year, with DVD, video-on-demand and digital to follow via its first-look and output deal with New Video.

Docu, which preemed at the Cannes Film Festival, centers on the work of German painter and sculptor Kiefer, focusing on the complicated installations on which he’s been working since 2000.

Distribution deal was negotiated by Arthouse’s David Koh with Rosa Bosch on behalf of the producers, who include Fiennes, Kees Kasander and Emilie Blezat.

“Over Your Cities” joins an Arthouse lineup that includes “Waste Land,” “Picasso and Braque Go to the Movies” and “Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child.”
