Disney to drive first project in its deal with DreamWorks
Dakota Goyo will play Hugh Jackman’s son in “Real Steel,” the DreamWorks film Shawn Levy is directing.
Levy is set to begin lensing in June from a script by John Gatins. Film is the first to be distributed and marketed by Disney under its deal with DreamWorks
“Real Steel,” a futuristic tale about robot-boxing, is set for release on Nov. 18, 2011.
Producers are Levy, Don Murphy and Susan Montford. Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Steve Starkey, Mary McLaglen and Josh McLaglen are exec producing.
“Real Steel” tells the tale of a former boxer who gets one last shot at a title when he teams up with his long-lost son to train a robot for the upcoming Real Steel World Championship.
Goyo has primarily done television work. His feature credits include “Resurrecting the Champ.”Goyo is repped by WME and Thruline.
