They screamed at all the right places,” said Rob Friedman late Thursday following the premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” at the Nokia. The Summit co-topper said he’d already seen “Eclipse” seven times before the premiere. “I loved the screaming. It’s the first time I’ve seen it with a crowd,” Friedman added.
Besides the fan exuberance, festivities featured a full moon both outside and inside at the after-party, which was held in a big white tent atop the L.A. Live parking structure. There, the pic’s Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Bryce Dallas Howard and Kellan Lutz mingled with Dakota Fanning in a winter wonderland and drank at a massive central bar made entirely out of ice.
Director David Slade gave a shout out to the appreciation of the fans.
“It’s amazing to think of people who waited four nights out here for this,” he said. “They’re so nice.”
Slade said “Eclipse” succeeds for a simple reason: “It’s an unapologetic love story. That’s very not part of the zeitgeist but that’s why people respond.”
And with the party still going strong well past midnight, Summit co-chief Patrick Wachsberger mused, “I think I may stay up all night.”
