Franco to be feted at Santa Barbara Film Fest

Thesp gets kudo for perf in '127 Hours'

James Franco will be honored with the perf of the year kudo at the 26th annual Santa Barbara Film Fest in January.

Franco will be feted for his portrayal of Aron Ralston, the mountain climber who severed off his right arm to save his life in 2003, in Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours.”

“James Franco eases onto the screen, seducing the audience no matter if he is the hero, the villain or the victim,” said fest’s exec director Roger Durling.

The fest will run Jan. 27 to Feb. 6, with Franco receiving his kudo at the Arlington Theater on Jan. 29. Previous honorees include Helen Mirren, Heath Ledger, Kate Winslet and Charlize Theron.
