‘Four Lions’ to close SXSW

Jihadist drama premiered at Sundance

Four Lions” has been tapped as the closing-night film at South by Southwest, with the satire set to screen March 20 at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas.

“Lions,” which screened at Sundance, is directed by Chris Morris and written by Jesse Armstrong, Sam Bain, Simon Blackwell and Morris. It centers on a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. Pic stars Riz Ahmed, Arsher Ali, Nigel Lindsay, Kayvan Novak and Adeel Akhtar.

Fest also announced additional features, including Doors documentary “When You’re Strange,” the world premiere of docu “American Grindhouse,” Swiss sci-fi thriller “Cargo” and the North American preems of documentary “Haynesville: The Hunt for an Energy Future” and “A NY Thing,” written and directed by Olivier Lecot.

The fest also added showings of “Skateland,” “Beyond Ipanema” and the world premiere of “Strummerville,” Don Letts’ docu on the impact of Joe Strummer’s death.
