Peter Schlessel and Bob Berney’s FilmDistrict has named its initial distribution and marketing management team, including several execs with longtime ties to Berney.
Distrib team includes Dan Lange, who will serve as senior VP of distribution, while John Lange becomes VP of film settlement and Bill Thompson is senior VP-general sales manager.
In marketing, Jeanne R. Berney has been named exec VP of marketing, Kirk Iwanowski is senior VP of marketing and Liz Berger has been tapped as senior VP of publicity. Oleg Dubson will be director of field publicity and promotions.
Senior VP Valerie Bruce will head business affairs.
Jeanne Berney (Bob Berney’s wife), Iwanowski and Thompson all worked at Apparition, Bob Berney’s previous venture.
Other distribution hires include Ryan Markowitz, who will serve as distrib director; Nicki Petrone, named director of distribution operations; and Deborah Johnson, who has been tapped director of national exhibitor relations.
“We’ve assembled a core team of industry pros to move us into the next wave of theatrical marketing and distribution,” said Berney, who is prexy of theatrical distribution.
Graham King and Tim Headington formed FilmDistrict, in partnership with Schlessel, who is CEO of the company.
FilmDistrict will distribute between four and eight wide-release commercial pictures per year.
