Executive named to new Sony post

Hollo new managing director, worldwide licensing

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has tapped Magnus Hollo for the newly created post of managing director, worldwide licensing.

Hollo, who will be based at SPHE’s European headquarters in London, will focus on boosting revenues earned through existing licensing partnerships and developing third-party distribution and new revenue opportunities in markets where the studio does not operate.

Aodan Coburn, exec VP of worldwide operations at SPHE, said Hollo’s hiring was prompted by the division’s increased focus in recent years on licensing.

“With his strong strategic business expertise and proven track record within the industry, Magnus will be instrumental in our efforts to extend the studio’s leadership position in the market,” said Coburn, to whom Hollo will report.

Hollo joins the company from Sony Retail Services, a joint venture between Sony DADC and Sony Pictures. Before SRS, he worked at Paramount Home Entertainment International.
