Robinson named exec VP production, development

Former Weinstein Co. exec Eric Robinson has joined The Gotham Group as exec VP of production and development to oversee Gotham’s first-look deal with Sony Pictures Animation.

Robinson most recently was senior VP of production and development at TWC, where he headed the creation and building of its family and animation division. He’d segued to TWC from Miramax, where he was director of development and production after starting as Harvey Weinstein’s executive assistant.

He’s worked on “TMNT,” “Hoodwinked,” “Hoodwinked 2,” “Fraggle Rock,” “Escape from Planet Earth,” “Cricket in Times Square,” “The Silver Linings Playbook,” “Wolf Boy” and “Inglourious Basterds.”

“Family entertainment is my passion,” said Robinson.

Gotham topper Ellen Goldsmith-Vein was a producer on “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” based on the series of fantasy books written by Gotham clients Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. Upcoming features include “Saving Juliet” at Disney, “The Maze Runner” at Fox, “Wicked” at DreamWorks, “The Devil You Know” with Shawn Levy and Fox, “Stargirl” for DreamWorks, “Ghostopolis” at Disney, “Big Brave Brian” at CBS Films and “The Family Hitchcock” at New Regency.
