'One for the Money' scribe leaves St. Martin's Press

Bestselling author Janet Evanovich has moved to Random House.

Evanovich’s popular Stephanie Plum mystery series is being adapted for the bigscreen by Lionsgate. Pic based on the first book in the series, “One for the Money,” is now lensing.

After St. Martin’s reportedly balked at Evanovich’s hefty asking price for a four-book extension on her contract, the scribe cut a deal to be published by Random House in the U.S. and Canada under the publisher’s Ballantine Bantam Dell imprint.

Evanovich first hit the No. 1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list with “Hot Six” in 2000.

All ten of her successive Stephanie Plum books have debuted in the top spot.
