Thesp pacts for 'Preacher,' 'Premium'
Michael Shannon has landed a pair of bigscreen roles in Lionsgate’s “Machine Gun Preacher” and Columbia Pictures’ “Premium Rush.”
First up is the Gerard Butler starrer “Preacher,” which is based on the true story of Sam Childers, a once violent drug-dealing biker who went on to spend time in the most dangerous parts of Sudan and Uganda rescuing the youngest victims of war. Shannon will play Childers’ friend Delane.
Marc Forster directs from a Jason Keller screenplay.
Thesp will then segue to “Premium Rush,” which centers on a New York bike messenger (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who picks up an envelope at Columbia University, only to be chased throughout the city by a dirty cop (Shannon) desperate to get his hands on it.
David Koepp, who wrote the screenplay with John Kamps, will helm.
Shannon was nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for “Revolutionary Road.” In the fall, he will be seen in HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”
